Last Thursday (18/2), we held our ninth Tech a Break at Tokopedia office, which was another success. In case you don’t know, Tech a Break is our monthly event where tech enthusiasts and practitioners gather together in warm knowledge-sharing meetup with awesome guest speakers from variety of tech backgrounds.
Unlike the usual Tech a Break, this month’s meetup was in partnership with DevTalk - Tech in Asia. Hence, the event is called Tech a Break x DevTalk. The auditorium was packed with hundreds of audiences ready to hear what three speakers have prepared, some of them even had to sit on the floor.
We had three speakers come in to talk to us about Database Management System. Each speaker gave such a great talk which is in line with the theme—”How to Not Fail in Database”.
The first speaker, Jony Sugianto, Research Engineer at Detik.com, talked about database designs. His topic was “Architecting Database”, he also shared how to design database and his experience in his 7 years in Detik.com.
The second speaker, Hendra Budiawan, Senior Database Administrator at Tokopedia talked about how to scale and maintain database with topic of “High Availability Database System”. He also told his stories about his journey in managing big data in Tokopedia.
Our third speaker, Budi Rahardjo, IT Expert and also a lecturer at ITB started his session with a humorous touch to it, by introducing himself as a technopreneur, blogger, and also rocker. During his presentation, he shared about pre processed blog. One of his portfolio is a 90’’s famous website, astaga[dot]com.
The night ended with a great question and answer session with three speakers. A huge thank you to our speakers and to the participants who came along to make it such a success. We hope all of you who attended enjoyed the event as much as we did.
